A short word before the circular proper. Things have gotten lively around here. The Wainwright Rediscovery goes out in September, and for the first time the Sunset Provision is doing what it was always meant to do — and I won’t deny, several of my colleagues in Archives have not slept well in weeks.
I understand the nerves. Passing something along, after you've kept it safe so long, is uncomfortable. But the Charter is clear on the point, and the docket is filling, and there comes a moment when preservation means trusting a thing to new custody rather than holding it a little tighter. That moment is coming up fast.
